Description
Newspaper clippings from the 1940s regarding soldiers whose families were members of the PAWV Post 1 or who were members themselves. These clippings were compiled in a scrapbook-like format on black paper. These clippings contain information about Private Francis Manuel, who had been reported MIA before his death was confirmed in March of that year. The articles discuss his service in World War II as well as his memorial mass held at the St. Thomas the Apostle church with representatives from the Portuguese American Civic League, the Portuguese committee in charge of veteran affairs, Post 153 American Legion and the Legion auxiliary, the Veteran of Foreign Wars, and other city officials.
