Image of the early Luís de Camões marching band. The following information was gathered by members Joaquim Cunha and Serafim Romano, with the special help of Sra. Hilda Prata in 2008:
The bass drum player is Frank Silva and the man with the cymbals next to the bass drum is "Silva." Second from the right, the first clarinet, is Miguel Amaral. The 2nd clarinet is Alfredo J. Ferreira.
On the right: Jack Lawrence stands between two women. Mr. Marshall is the conductor. Next to the trombone is Amaro.
To the left of the trombone players include Sousa (who lived near the church), Bill Mello, and Rose Mello; Luis (Batata); Defim Mello; Antony Silva (Lucy Silva's Uncle); John Guiteira; Mike Amaral; Eddy Silva; Manny Mello; Tony Costa; José Prata and Victória Prata; Deolinda; Manuel Quadros; José Azevedo; Sra. Chica and Marido (Ellen Pavick's parents); and Mr. Paul and his wife.
To the left of the bass drum (seated) is Franciso Saraiva. Next to the trombone is Aguiar (corner Sprague and Tremont); On the left side of the drum, the fourth man with the white hat is Alberto Cunha, and to the left of Alberto Cunha is Luis Leitao (with a white beret).
To the right of Alberto Cunha: the man with the beret, tie, and mustache is José Pimenta, and the fourth man to the right of Alberto Cunha (with a mustache, cap, and ababy on his lap) is António Coito (a police officer). On the right side of the third man to follow the last clarinet (with a mustache and a black cap) is Raul Almeida.
