Description

Records of the balances for the Portuguese Benefit Society's funds from 1935 to 1942. On the left-hand pages, the treasurer indicates the credit balance and expenses for the Mortuary Fund ("FM"), the Benefit Fund ("FB," for medical benefits), the General Expenses Fund ("FD"), and any special expenses, as well as payments for renting out the Portuguese Benefit Society Hall, any transfers of funds, and the yearly interest they have earned. The right-hand side of the book indicates the amount of benefit payments that have been paid out to members during that bi-weekly period, as well as any extra purchases or bills.

Detailed scans of the four loose papers found within the book can be found at the end of the document. The papers were photographed in their original locations but re-positioned for the camera. The spine of the book reads "Cash." Pages 114-297 were left intentionally blank.
