1995 Danças de Carnaval, TV Portugal Lowell

This video is a rebroadcast of a Carnaval event that had happened the week prior. The newscaster explains that this footage had been shown last week but due to technical difficulties, it was shown without a voiceover, so this footage now has voice. The group performing is from Cambridge and were accompanied by the Holy Ghost Band in the Hall of the Holy Ghost Society in Lowell, MA.

The group of performers begin their dance while accompanied by string instruments and accordions. The tambourine dancer performs with a whistle and sings the solos. Throughout the performance, the dance continuously pauses while actors on stage tell jokes in a comical rhyme pattern before the music resumes. An announcement also happens in the middle of the performance to present an award to the main tambourine dancer. Afterward, a man is interviewed for the TV program.

The footage then transitions to another tambourine dance with younger performers and a comical theatrical performance depicting a wedding, and the group also receives an award. Then, the performance done by dancers from the municipality of Praia da Vitória in Portugal is shown, where they also performed with a string and brass ensemble and presented a comical theater performance about a man who travels to an English-speaking country. An award is also presented to this group.
