This letter was written in anticipation of Bishop da Silva's pastoral visit to the Cathedral of São Tomé de Meliapor The correspondents recognize the constant interest of Bishop da Silva in the spiritual welfare of the faithful and that they have derived great benefits from his previous visits. They also ask for his blessings for themselves and their families. The end of the document contains signatures of the diocesans, with the cathedral's architect, J. A. Power (the captain in the reserve of the Army Corps of Engineers) appearing at the head.
