Father Martins addresses the passing of the Bishop of Cochin [João Gomes Ferreira], saying that he had celebrated the Eucharist, suffraging his soul. He recalls the Missions College (colégio das Missões) and the emotional bonds that were created there. He regrets not having seen Bishop da Silva when he was still staying in Lisbon. He invites Bishop da Silva to visit his house in Coimbra, similar to what he did with the Bishop of Himera [António José de Sousa Barroso].
