Letter from the Bishop of Bragança and Miranda, José Maria da Silva Ferrão de Carvalho Martens, to the Vicar General of Angola and Congo, Henrique José Reed da Silva. This letter confirms receipt of documents and sends news of Angola and Congo. It highlights Bishop da Silva's competence in performing the services he has been providing, as appreciated by the Secretary of the Navy. The Bishop of Bragança and Miranda mentions that he has heard the greatest praise of Bishop da Silva from the Director-General, Francisco Joaquim da Costa e Silva.

Bishop Martens addresses the case that occurred in Goa between the archbishop and the legal authorities. Regarding this, and with reference to the performance of a play in the diocese of Bragança Miranda, he offers Bishop da Silva a life lesson.
