Description
Copy of the royal letter from the Director-General of Overseas, 1st Division of the Secretary of State for Navy and Overseas Affairs, that reveals that the prelature of Mozambique has been found vacant due to the new appointment of the bishop of Lycopolis, António Tomás da Silva Leitão e Castro, as bishop of Angola and Congo. Thus, King Luís I decided to appoint Henrique José Reed da Silva, presbyter and chanter of the cathedral of Luanda, for prelate of the prelature of Mozambique. This letter also contained a copy of the apostolic letter of Leo XIII granting da Silva the title of bishop of Philadelphia in Arabia.
