Description

Picture of Manuel E. Sousa and likely his wife Josephine Sousa, along with another woman outside the store. Ostroff & Sousa Co. was a dry goods clothing store at 92 Gorham Street in Lowell, established in the mid-1900's by Manuel E. Sousa, Antonio F. Chaves, and Harry Ostroff, who would later leave the business and be replaced by Antonio C. Picanco (Picanso). In the Spring of 1912, the store moved locations to 99 and 103 Gorham Street, and in October of 1912, the store was renamed to Picanso-Sousa & Co.
