Rose (or Rosa) was born on May 18, 1903 in Lawrence to Portuguese immigrant parents, Manuel and Maryanna (sometimes listed as Maria) Silva.

After they got married, they went on to have three daughters (Mary, Eileen, and Geraldine) and one son (Beverly). Albino supported his family through his work as a tailor.

Their son, Beverly (who went by Bernard), became one of the founding members of Marshall's, an off-price department store.
